Principles of Health Science provides an overview
of therapeutic, diagnostic, environmental, and informational systems in the healthcare industry. The course focuses on health career exploration, leadership development, ethical and legal responsibilities, health care history, and economics, as well as client care, safety, first aid, and CPR. It prepares students for clinical or work-based experience in health care and satisfies the 0.5 Health credit graduation requirement.

These careers include direct patient care jobs, rehabilitation, and jobs caring for individuals with physical and developmental delays.

This course is designed to equip students with knowledge, technical skills, and work habits required for an entry-level position as an Emergency Medical Technician. A strong emphasis is placed on ethics, accountability, professionalism, and the individual's commitment to pursue lifelong personal and professional development. In addition, students are expected to sit for the National Registry EMT Certification exam at the end of the school year.
This course will take place at the Healthcare Careers Academy (RHCA) hospital campus.
Time outside of class will be required to complete 100+ clinical hours.
