Dementia can affect a person at any age but it is more commonly diagnosed in people over the age of 65 years. A person developing dementia before age 65 is said to have young onset dementia.
There are over 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK and this is set to rise to over one million by 2021.
Regardless of which type of dementia is diagnosed and what part of the brain is affected, each person will experience dementia in their own unique way
There’s such a range of ways to get involved that whether you are outgoing or shy; sporty or arty; looking for the rewards of an ongoing relationship or just want to help at a one off event; there should be an opportunity to suit you.
You can help people currently living with dementia, and provide a little support and fun with social activities.
Commitment Level?
It’s up to you. It can be as little as a one hour hour to an hour each week.
You will receive an awareness course prior to taking part.
