The following texts are the ONLY texts created specifically for, and approved for use with, the WNCP MB Curriculum. As such, all K-12 teachers should have copies of these resources in their classrooms for reference and use. The MB curriculum on its own provides no example questions or specified levels of rigour. These texts do, have been approved, and are supported by MB Education and Training to meet curricular expectations in all areas.
Kindergarten to Grade 4 (pdf.)
Grade 5 to Grade 8 (pdf.)
Grade 9 to Grade 12 (pdf.)
BBL Learn and MB Ed. ISO courses (website)
Other materials may be useful supports, but every MB K-12 math teacher should consistently refer to their WNCP curriculum-aligned texts to ensure curriculum alignment and expected level of rigour.
Manitoba's new educational quality measurement system (website)
Each school needs to keep track and manage their own Numeracy and Literacy Scorecard results. The Numeracy Index is an aggregate based on your Grade 3 Early Years Provincial Assessment, Grade 7 Middle Years Assessment, Grade 9 Credit Attainment, and Grade 12 Provincial exam scores. The target is 75% by 2024. We are well situated to reach this. Use the Learning Centre Divisional Assessment Tracking Tool at the top left to monitor how your school is doing, and to put resources in place where needed to ensure success for our students.
Continuous Improvement Plans: (pdf.)
Each MB division is asked to put together a plan on how they will reach Provincial targets. You are instrumental in your school's success at planning and reaching these targets. PLC and RTI are the most effective and efficient methods to impact classrooms and drive student learning, improving measurable results.
All divisional assessments are meant to support and guide teachers towards filling gaps and addressing student needs prior to Provincial assessments. The Grade 2 Assessment provides Grade 3 teachers with a starting point for the Early Years Provincial Assessment. More information can be found on the Divisional Assessment Tracking System at the top right, and by clicking on the competencies of math assessments in Grades 2,3,6, and 7.
High School Math Exams (Google Classroom) are meant to support and guide teachers towards filling gaps and addressing student needs prior to the Grade 12 Provincial exam.

Manitoba Rural Learning Consortium: This group offers high quality PD to rural divisions in the province. A brochure of PD is produced every Spring, and divisions are given the option to sign up and pay for whichever sessions interest them.
This mRLC PD takes 3 years for training. It centers around the use of PLC and RTI in math from Grades 5-9. As part of the program, a pacing guide is used and common formative assessments are done throughout the year. After assessments teachers target the weak areas with specific students.
Challenges: Training takes a long time and there are many extra tools that the inservicing incorporates. New technology for recording formative assessment scores takes practice to use.
