Learning centres in our classrooms allow students the opportunity to practice skills and explore concepts independently. When students document that learning in a photo or a video, they have the opportunity to extend that learning by incorporating 21st Century skills (Creativity, Critical Thinking, Citizenship, Character, Collaboration, Communication). Asked to reflect upon their work with digital tools, they can practice identifying success and future goals, and prepare to have important conversations during parent/teacher conferences.
The slides and video (at right) offer more background on implementing this approach.
One of the classrooms at the forefront of this project belonged to Mr. Mark Coates (Roland). I interviewed him about the 'Make Learning Visible' project in June, 2017. See that video at right.
