PROJECT LEAD THE WAY

Engineering is a Project Lead the Way program. Project Lead the Way is a nationwide program that trains teachers and provides resources to create an engaging classroom environment unlike any other. PLTW empowers students to develop and apply in-demand, transportable skills by exploring real-world challenges. Students not only learn technical skills, but also learn to solve problems, think critically and creatively, communicate, and collaborate. Classes at PCHS in the Engineering program include:

Students dig deep into the engineering design process, applying math, science, and engineering standards to hands-on projects like designing a new toy or improving an existing product. (Grades 9-12)

Students explore a broad range of engineering topics including mechanisms, strength of structure and materials, and automation, and then they apply what they know to take on challenges like designing a self-powered car. (Grades 10-12)

Students discover and explore manufacturing processes, product design, robotics, and automation, and then they apply what they have learned to design solutions for real-world manufacturing problems. (Grades 11-12)
