Hey Duran 7th and 8th graders! Challenge yourself to read more this school year by logging books for the 20 Book Challenge. Anyone can do this challenge! You may read print books or ebooks. All you have to do is record the books you read either digitally or on a hard copy of the provided sheet and fill out the Google Form via the link that your ELA teacher gives you. Participating doesn't mean you HAVE to read all 20 books. The idea is simply to read more books and to read books you enjoy. You can find all the challenge prompts and necessary links on this website.
We do have a few expectations and tips:
All books read should be age-appropriate. We want you to build your stamina by reading books that are meant for your age level; however, if you find a book that is a little lower level and a teacher approves it, then you may read it!
We prefer that you read new books. We understand that re-reading a favorite book is fun and absolutely valid, but we want you to build your stack by reading something new.
Definitely count the books you are assigned to read in class this year! This will help you reach your goal much quicker. Please just be sure you're only counting the books you've read this year, not previous years.
Books must be read within the challenge period to count. Please don't record books you read before the first day of school, August 7.
When you have recorded five books, your ELA teacher will let Mrs. Jack know. There will be incentives for every five books that you read. Students who read and log all 20 books will participate in a challenge success party in May.
The ending date will be May 5.
