While at Seneca High School, Clarence earned letters in three varsity sports. He earned four letters in football, four letters in basketball, and four letters in track. As a member of the track team, Clarence was a three-time All-Region selection. He was also named to the All-State team in 1980. Clarence was a champion high jumper. He was the 1978 Region Champion in the high jump; the 1978 and 1979 Upper State Champion in the high jump; and the 1978 State Champion in the high jump event. As a member of the basketball team, Clarence was named to the All County team twice. During his four years as a varsity football player for Seneca High School, Clarence was named to the All County team, All-State team, and the All-American team. After graduation, Clarence played football at the University of Georgia from 1980-1984. During his four years at Georgia, he had 51 receptions for 727 yards and 5 touchdowns. Clarence went on to the NFL and played with the Denver Broncos for 10 years. He was drafted in the seventh round. In his NFL career, Clarence had 193 receptions for 2,136 yards and 13 touchdowns.
