The "Program for Key Technologies Research on Next-Generation Communication Systems" is committed to fostering research competitiveness, cultivating wireless communication talent, and deepening communication research in Taiwan. It brings together eight top research teams in Taiwan to conduct research focusing on high-speed communication, smart networks, and three-dimensional communication. One of the teams is devoted to participation in the 3GPP standardization meetings to enhance the program’s ability to integrate with international communication technologies and trends. This year, the Program for Key Technologies Research on Next-Generation Communication Systems has entered its final stage, and the teams will present the research achievements accumulated over the past four years.
Meanwhile, the "Program for 6G Advanced Research" subsidizes five 6G forward-looking academic research and development teams to consolidate Taiwan's academic 6G autonomous technological capabilities. Together with the establishment of prototype systems led by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, it conducts 6G technology topic selection, planning, development, and verification, aiming to jointly establish international-level 6G prototype systems and cultivate forward-looking technology research and development talent.
To enhance international exchanges and visibility, the program office led project research teams to visit relevant communication and 6G institutions in the United States last year, including UCSD, Qualcomm, NYU-Wireless, Columbia University, Nokia Bell Labs, MIT, and Northeastern University. This visit facilitated good communication and interaction, paving the way for further possibilities of international cooperation. Building on these achievements, we successfully invited Prof. Edmund Yeh from Northeastern University and Prof. Sundeep Rangan from New York University to Taiwan to deliver keynote speeches, further deepening our friendship and cooperation.
We look forward to showcasing the technical achievements of the project teams at the "2025 6G Communication Technology Workshop", expanding our international cooperation, and contributing more to the development of next-generation communication technologies. We cordially invite professionals from industry, government, and academia to join us for this grand event.
