In this standard, students are expected to identify lines of symmetry.
Lines of symmetry can be vertical, horizontal, and/or diagonal.
Hint: A regular polygon (all sides equal) will have the same number of lines of symmetry as it does number of sides.
Example:
- An equilateral triangle has 3 sides and 3 lines of symmetry
- A square has 4 sides and 4 lines of symmetry
Non-example:
- A rectangle has 4 sides, but they are not all the same size. It only has 2 lines of symmetry.
