In this standard, students must understand that:
- quadrilaterals have four sides and four angles (the four angles always add up to 360)
- trapezoids are quadrilaterals that have at least one pair of parallel sides
- parallelograms are quadrilaterals that have two pairs of parallel sides (opposite sides are parallel and equal)
- rectangles, rhombuses (rhombi), and squares are all types of parallelograms
- rectangles have four right angles
- rhombuses/rhombi have four equal sides
- squares have four right angles and four equal sides
- rectangles, rhombuses (rhombi), and squares are all types of parallelograms
