A 25-question, 75-minute multiple-choice examination that covers high school mathematics up to the Year 13 level.
The content covers the full high school mathematics curriculum (up to Year 13), including trigonometry, advanced algebra, and advanced geometry. Calculus is excluded.
Students in Year 12 and 13 are the key audience, with a maximum age of under 19.5 years on the day of the competition.
Exceptional and motivated students younger than this can also register fo the AMC 12.
