A 25-question, 40-minute multiple-choice examination designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills.
The content covers mathematics typically taught up to Year 9.
Students in Year 7 to 9 are the key audience, with a maximum age of under 14.5 years on the day of the competition.
Exceptional and motivated students younger than this can also register fo the AMC 8.
