KPBSD Improving Literacy Instruction in all grades!
General Information
Focus on Literacy is a K-12 effort in the KPBSD. Options for training in literacy pedagogy will be available to all teachers and administrators. Training is mandated for Prek-3 by the Alaska Department of Education and highly encouraged for all grades.

Enroll in a 1-credit Booktalk Course on Literacy in the Secondary Classroom
Join a co-lab (small group PLC) on targeted secondary intervention (Info coming soon!)
Take advantage of the Dept of Ed's Working with Struggling Readers credit courses for 1-credit
Build a Base
For those who are ready for more...
Join a cohort of 35 middle school and high school teachers for 2 days of in person training in the Keys to Comprehension training with Keys to Literacy Program.
*There will be a train-the-trainer option added in Spring.
