Week Two (4/6 - 4/12) Assignment for Kindergarten: Exploring Music Genres
Listen to at least three examples from different genre's of music and sing, dance, move or play an instrument along with the music. You can choose the music I added to this site below by clicking on the pictures, or you can find your own music at home to listen to. Make sure that your music is from three completely different genre's of music and have fun while you listen.
Kindergarten to third grade: Report back to me by email, class dojo, or by phone and stating how you participated in the activity.
Extra credit: What is your favorite Genre of music? Let me know in your response.
Optional: take a picture or make a video of yourself doing this music activity.

Genres in music: There are many styles or types of music in the world. Different types of music are categorized as music genres. There are so many music genres that it would be impossible to list them all. Some music genres overlap and sound like others. Some genres are given more than one name. Some genres fit within the category of others. Also some music genres are influenced by their geographical location and the nature of the culture of the people who live there. Here is a short list of some of the more common genres.

Watch the entire video about tempo. Tempo is the speed of the beat of the music.
Watch the video at least one more time and sing, dance or move along with the video. Have fun out of your seat.
