All-County Middle School Chorus
Dr. Christopher Hansen is the Assistant Director of Choral Activities at Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of the Arts. He previously worked as Assistant Professor of Music in the South Carolina School of the Arts at Anderson University, conducted the Anderson University Choir and taught graduate and undergraduate courses in music education and performance. He served as the SCMEA Collegiate Membership Chair as well as on the Collegiate Choral R&R Committee for the South Carolina American Choral Director’s Association (SC ACDA). Choirs under Dr. Hansen’s direction performed at state-level music conferences as well as regional and national festivals and competitions. He is a highly active choral conductor and clinician. Dr. Hansen earned his Doctorate and Master degrees from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he studied music education research and choral conducting. He earned his Bachelor of Music from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Dr. Hansen believes that all music serves an important role in the development and nutriment of the human condition: our need to belong, be loved, grow and learn, and have purpose.

Dr. Dustin Ousley is assistant professor of music/director of choral activities and coordinator of choral music education at Charleston Southern University. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in music from Furman University, Ousley received the Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in choral conducting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and the University of South Carolina respectively. He served as the conductor of the USC Women’s Chorus from 2013-2015. Prior to his service at Charleston Southern, Ousley spent seven years teaching choral music in the public schools of North Carolina and three years as adjunct professor of music/director of choral activities at Coker College in Hartsville. In addition to his teaching/conducting experience, Ousley has performed in over 50 operas/musicals over the years, most recently the title role in Opera at USC’s production of Candide in 2013.
