Systems Engineering
The Systems Engineering approach will be taught using underwater robotics as a teaching vehicle. Mechanical, thermal, and electrical systems of the robots will be modeled, constructed, analyzed, designed, and controlled using the systems engineering approach.
There are a total of 13 practicums with sections beginning on Wednesday of the 1st week of class
Each practicum will have a Pre-lab google form submission. This is your entry ticket, and you will not be allowed to begin your practicum until your submission is in place. You may submit it anytime before the practicum. 1 point will be deducted if the Prelab is not completed before the Practicum start time.

Each practicum will last 2.5 hours and will be done in teams of 2 students. You will choose your partner during the 1st practicum.
Each team must upload a practicum submission sheet (one per team) at the end of each practicum.
Each student will be initially awarded 5 point out of 5 for participating with full effort. Points may be deducted for various reasons:
-1 arriving late (-1 point for up to 10 min, -2 for up to 30 min, -4 for up to 1 hr, -5 for more than 1 hr)
-1 not doing prelab before Practicum start time
-3 not letting partner do any of the work
-1 arriving unprepared
-1 not giving full effort (-1 point per hour of low effort)
-5 participating in dangerous behavior
-5 missing practicum without an excused absence
All students will be required to purchase a parts kit for $25. This kit fee must be paid before your 1st practicum. This fee can be waived in cases of financial hardship. Course instructors will not know about waiver requests.
If you are unable to attend your practicum section, a swap request for another section may be submitted. This request must be submitted by 5pm on the Friday before the week of the desired switch. This option is intended for rare, unavoidable conflicts that meet the criteria of excused absences. Filling out this form DOES NOT GUARANTEE that instructors will grant you permission to swap your practicum time.
Practicum swap request can be made here
