My name is Satprit Kaur and this is my 8th year teaching on the Tyee Campus. I'm excited to work with you this year!
I grew up in the Seattle area, and currently live in Lynnwood with my mom. My ethnic and cultural background is incredibly important to me. Although I was born in the United States, my parents immigrated to the US from India. You may be able to tell from my picture that I cover my head and don't cut my hair--this is for religious reasons because I am Sikh. I can read and write in Punjabi but have a little difficulty speaking it.
I earned my Masters-in-Teaching from the University of Washington with endorsements in Biology, General Science, and ELL (English Language Learners). I also did my Bachelor's degree at UW, where I majored in Biology and minored in education and marine biology. In my free time I love to read, watch TV and play the harmonium.
I currently teach Biology and Biology for English Language Learners. We will be learning about a variety of topics this year including photosynthesis, cellular respiration, ecology, genetics, evolution, and much much more!
