I grew up in Poulsbo, WA and moved to Seattle in 2008 when I begin my undergraduate degree in teaching at Seattle University. After completing my degree, I stayed on another year at Seattle U to complete my masters degree in teaching. During my masters program I student taught at the Academy of Citizenship and Empowerment, which was formally one of the small schools on the Tyee campus. I was thrilled to be hired the year after and have never looked back!
This will be my 7th year at Tyee and I'm excited to be teaching AP Computer Science Principles, Computer Science Discoveries, and Graphic Arts. In the past I have taught both social studies and AVID and have just recently switched over to the world of Career and Technical Education (CTE).
I live in Des Moines with my husband (who teaches Computer Science at Cascade Middle School), my daughter and our dog. Although working from home is a huge challenge with a small child, I am very excited to be back with students, sharing my passion for Computer Science and social justice.
