Welcome to Shorewood's

Counseling Resource Page

Greetings Shorewood Families and Students

It's Mrs. Roden, your counselor at Shorewood Elementary! I miss seeing all of you. As a way of staying connected during the school closure I wanted to create a website to provide up-to-date resources to you and your family. This is an unpredictable and challenging time for all of us, and I want you to know that I am still here to support you. The Shorewood community is always stronger when we work together!

Some services I'll be providing remotely during the closure include:

Zoom Appointments: Do you or your student need someone to talk to? I can speak to you or your student via a video chat program called Zoom or over the phone. It is understandable to have strong feelings during this uncertain time. These strong feelings can be difficult to manage. Remember to use your strategies to be calm and to reach out to someone you trust to share your feelings. There are many people who care about you. If you are having difficulty, I can support you with different ways of coping. It is important to practice self-care and mindfulness.

Fun social-emotional learning activities: It is important that we continue to build on our social emotional skills during this challenging time. I will post activities that students can do independently or with their family in order to practice social emotional learning and self-care. There will also be activities that support mindfulness and relaxation strategies.

Accessing community resources: There will be up to date community resources listed on this site under the Resources page. I'm also available by phone to help explore and access other services not included on this site.

If you have any questions or need additional support, you can reach me via phone from 8:45-4:15 Monday through Friday, and/or you can always send me an e-mail.

Stay strong, Shorewood families. We'll get through this together!

Warmly,

Mrs. Roden
