Cougar's Counselor
Hello McMicken Families!
This is Mr. Bunda, McMicken Heights Elementary's School Counselor!
I wanted to provide our families and students with access to resources that can help them through these distance learning filled school days.
Students can find resources that they can practice at home to help with their feelings of worry, anxiety, and sadness with the Virtual Calming Room, Self-Care and Lessons page.
Families can find up to date Resources (rental support, food, utilities, etc) Highline Public School have available for families.

Learn how too much of one thing can lead to more problems and how Balance will help us be successful through our learning at home.
Positive Self-Talk
Positive self-talk can support us while we experience hard things, reminding us that we CAN get through challenging situations.
Song of the Week:
What's Going On by Marvin Gaye
Song of the Week is meant to give inspiration through music! Music is a powerful tool that has helped people throughout history get through hard times.
Many of us may be feeling fearful, outraged, upset and/or saddened by recent news. Know that you are not alone. We can feel those feelings together and those feelings may last for some time. These tragic events are a reminder why our work in school is so important and why we must continue to teach and empower our students to fight to end racism, strive for a more equitable system and work for a brighter future.
Remember if you are needing to talk with someone, you can always email or text me at Ryan.Bunda@highlineschools.org
or

As you listen to the song of the week think about what changes you can start to make at home, school, in your community to end racism and bring change and love into those spaces.
Talking about racism can be a difficult conversation to have for students and parents. It is important for us all to understand the history in our country and learn from leaders of steps we can take to help change happen.
