The Grove Gazette

Welcome to Walnut Grove

It has been a great start to the 2022 – 2023 school year. After a couple of weeks, I feel as though we are now in the groove and things are running very smoothly. I am looking forward to what the year has to hold and I truly believe this is going to be Walnut Grove’s best year ever. I want to thank you in advance for your involvement, support and fulfilling your role in helping Walnut Grove be the best school it can be.

I am looking forward to seeing you for our Curriculum Night scheduled for Tuesday, August 23. We will begin at 6 pm with a recorded message from our PTA and myself. The first session will begin immediately following my message and the second session will begin around 7 pm for those of you with children in different grade levels.

So that you can plan ahead, go ahead and mark your calendar for Friday, September 16. This is the night of our annual EagleFest event. Our PTA is working very hard to make EagleFest a special event for the school and the community. Plan to be there because they have a lot of great things planned. You will be receiving more information about this very soon in the weeks that lead up to this special occasion.

I hope you have a great upcoming Labor Day weekend and I look forward to seeing you throughout the course of this school year.

Sincerely,

Dr. Dale Pugh

WGES Visitor Policy

During school hours, the entrance for visitors is restricted to designated doors near the office, which are locked until the visitor is granted access. To notify school staff of their arrival, visitors push the bell button on the visitor management panel found outside the main entrance door. Once “buzzed in,” visitors proceed directly to the front desk in the lobby to check-in.

At that time, adult visitors entering the building for the first time this year will go through the new check-in process. Office personnel will check a visitor’s driver’s license or other state-issued ID, comparing information to a national sex offender database, alerting school administrators if a match is found, or issuing a detailed visitor badge if the person is cleared.

Upon entering a district building, visitors will be asked to present an ID such as a Driver’s License, which can either be scanned or manually entered into the system. If a parent or guardian does not have a US government-issued ID, the school staff member can use any form of identification and manually enter the person’s name into the system.
