Welcome to the PDS Colorguard!

We are an organization that offers an exciting performance experience to our members. Founded in 2022, the PDS Colorguard strives to foster a spirit of friendship, excellence, and dedication as part of the Paul Duke STEM HS experience. No experience is necessary to join - just a great attitude and a willingness to learn! The colorguard at Paul Duke STEM HS will have the opportunity to perform locally at school events and participate in competitions of the Southern Association for Performance Arts (SAPA) circuit.

What is colorguard?

2025 PDS Colorguard at SAPA Championships

Colorguard is an activity that combines elements of dance, artistry, and athleticism to manipulate equipment such as flags, rifles, and sabres. The colorguard activity has origins stemming from the military in organized drills and bearing of the colors of a country. Today, it has evolved into an activity that serves millions of students world-wide in pageantry and competition, culminating a world championships competition held in the United States every April. Frequently Asked Questions

Who can participate?
- Any student who will be enrolled in Paul Duke STEM HS for the 2025-2026 school year. No performance experience is required - we will teach you everything!
How can I participate?
- Fill out the interest form. You will be placed on a mailing list to receive information about the upcoming season, including schedule, cost, and other important information. You can also join the Google Classroom site, which will have important information for students throughout the season. A link for the Google Classroom site will be provided once you fill out the interest form.
- APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED FOR THE 2025-2026 SEASON. Thank you!
Will there be an audition?
- We will meet on Tuesdays after school from 2:00-4:15pm. There is no specific audition - so come and check us out!
What do my dues cover?
- Your dues help cover the following items:
  - All equipment used throughout the season (flags, floor covering, equipment storage/transportation, etc.)
  - Uniform to wear during performances
  - Team t-shirt
  - Transportation & lodging for SAPA Championships trip in March 2026
  - Competition registration fees

Schedule

After-school practice on Tuesdays from 2:00pm - 4:15pm
Fridays during TBD block
Select Thursdays from 2:00pm - 4:15pm
Select Saturday afternoons in fall and spring
School performances to include:
- Fall Festival
- Dance Shows (Fall & Spring)
- International Night
Up to four Saturday contests in spring semester, including March 27 - 29, 2026 for SAPA Championships
