Our next literacy unit will focus on the importance of clean fresh water around the world. The students will read the text One Well: The Story of Water on Earth to build background knowledge about freshwater around the world. Specifically, the children will read about people's access to water, the demands on water, and water pollution. Next week, the children will be practicing finding the main idea and supporting details, answering comprehension questions using evidence from the text, and explaining the function of nouns and pronouns.
Reading comprehension packets are sent home weekly for daily practice.
Students will begin unit 7 measurement next week. We will kick this unit off with students measuring to the half and/or quarter inch. Then students will learn to create and analyze line/dot plots with measurements to the quarter inch.
