Learning in Action:
Students wrap up their personal finance unit in Social Studies by making wise budgeting decisions in a banking simulation; as well as, researching entrepreneurs that have left lasting impacts on our society.

Standard Math: Teaching and learning in Standard Math thus far has included:
Integers and Graphing
Understanding Opposites
Absolute Value
Add and Subtract Integers with and without number lines and colored counters (yellow = positive, red = negative)
Add and Subtract Integers
This and next week we will continue:
Adding and Subtracting Rational Numbers (Integers, Fractions, Decimals)
Applying Properties of Operations (additive inverse, commutative, associative) to Add and Subtract Rational Numbers.
Our first unit test in Standard Math is on Thursday, August 29. Students should be reviewing their warmup problems, notes, and handouts. Please check your student's eClass course pages for class and homework assignments.
Accelerated Math:
Social Studies: This week in SS, students will begin Unit 2 which focuses on the geographical development of Southwest Asia. Lesson objectives for this week include labeling/locating countries of the region and analyzing the impact and possible solutions to water pollution and unequal access to water in the region. Students are encouraged to continuously review vocabulary throughout the unit.
Language Arts: This week in ELA, students will be starting lesson 4 of Unit 1, focusing on women in aviation! Learning objectives for lesson 4 include: determining the author's point of view, citing textual evidence, and conducting research. Students will summarize their learning by completing a one-pager after researching a woman in aviation of their choice.
