PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES
Parent-teacher conferences will be taking place next week, primarily on March 6th & 7th. Please check your emails for scheduling instruction.
S2 INTERIMS
Midterms are coming up! This assessment is important to measuring student progress in each content area. As such, please ensure your student has begun reviewing in prepartion for their upcoming assessments.
Standard Math: Students are now solving real-world problems involving the surface area and volume of composite 3-dimensional figures (right rectangular prisms and cylinders). They will solve for the area of each 2-dimensional shape (triangle, circle, rectangle) then add the areas together for the Surface Area (SA) of the geometric figure.
It is imperative that students review the examples given in class daily, complete i-Ready practice, and study for their test next week.
Workbook lessons that students must continue to review, and practice are:
Classify Angles pages 609-616
Complementary and Supplementary Angles pages 617-624
Triangles pages 629-636
Circumference pages 673-680
Accelerated Math: Students will be starting Unit 5: Geometry, which will focus on solving practical problems involving angle measurement, circles, area of circles, surface area of prisms and cylinders, and volume of cylinders and prisms composed of cubes and right prisms (7.GSR.5) and solving problems involving the Pythagorean Theorem and the volume of cones, cylinders, and spheres to explain real-life phenomena
Life Science:
Social Studies: Students will begin exploring the environmental issues that affect South and East Asia by analyzing primary, secondary sources, graphs and charts. Students will also be revisiting population distribution and density while applying the concept to the region.
Language Arts: Students will continue in Unit 5 - "More than a Game", answering the essential question: "How do sports bring together friends, families and communities?".
