• Standard Math: This month's focus in Standard Math is Unit 3B: Proportional Relationships.  Students will extend their knowledge of proportional relationships learned in Unit 3A to solve problems about scale drawings by relating corresponding lengths between the objects or by using the actual length of the geometric drawing.  Students will return to the graphs of proportional relationships to informally measure the steepness of a line, called the slope.  Students will use their understanding about similar triangles to explain why the slope, m, is the same between any two distinct points on a non-vertical line in the coordinate plane.  By the end of this unit, students will fluently graph proportional relationships using slope and compare these relationships expressed in tables, graphs, verbal descriptions, and equations.
