NOTE TO PARENTS
As we work to limit classroom disruptions, we kindly ask that your students limit the popular 'bag tags' they bring to school.
Additionally, please monitor your child's computer usage at home by setting guidelines for screen time and encouraging them to use devices in shared spaces.
Thank you for your support in keeping our school community safe and responsible.

Standard Math: This week students will work on the following standards:
4.l use proportional relationships to solve multi-step ratio and percent problems presented in applicable situations (e.g., simple interest, tax, markups and markdowns, gratuities, and commission)
4.a compute unit rates associated with ratios of fractions, including ratios of lengths, areas, and other quantities measured in like or different units presented in realistic problems
4.b determine the unit rate (i.e., constant of proportionality) of tables, graphs, equations, diagrams, and verbal descriptions of proportional relationships to solve realistic problems
Accelerated Math: This week students will cover the following standards:
4.f solve everyday problems involving scale drawings of geometric figures, including computing actual lengths and areas from a scale drawing and reproducing a scale drawing at a different scale; informally connect scale drawings and similarity
4.g use similar triangles to explain why the slope, m, is the same between any two distinct points on a non-vertical line in the coordinate plane
4.h graph proportional relationships, interpreting the unit rate as the slope of the graph; compare two different proportional relationships represented in different ways (i.e., tables, graphs, verbal descriptions, and equations)
Social Studies: This week, students will continue the Economics of SW Asia unit, focusing on the factors of economic growth. Standards will include the following:
AKS 48a: I CAN explain the relationship between investment in human capital (education and training) and gross domestic product (GDP per capita) i. evaluate how literacy rates affect the standard of living in Southwest Asia by analyzing graphs and diagrams.
AKS 48b: I CAN explain the relationship between investment in capital goods (factories, machinery, and technology) and gross domestic product (GDP per capita) including how infrastructure affects the standard of living in Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey by analyzing charts and tables.
AKS 48c: I CAN explain how the distribution of oil has affected the development of Southwest Asia (Middle East) by drawing conclusions and making generalizations from primary and secondary sources
AKS 48d: I CAN describe the role of entrepreneurship in Southwest Asia (Middle East) by drawing conclusions and making generalizations from primary and secondary sources
Unit 5 Summative on 11/22 Students are encouraged to continuously review vocabulary.
Language Arts: Students will review and test for their Unit 2 Reading and Writing Assessments.
Life Science: Students will continue working on obtaining, evaluating, and communicating information to explain how organisms reproduce either sexually or asexually and transfer genetic information to determine the traits of their offspring.
Thank you parents for your continued support!
