Summer Only
At GSMST, we do not allow students to take dual enrollment in lieu of our core curriculum, but students can take classes in the summer to learn subjects not offered at GSMST, or to get college credit.
STEPS FOR SUMMER DUAL ENROLLMENT (these MUST be attempted before meeting with Ms. Scheid):
Review the powerpoint below regarding GSMST Dual Enrollment (this contains general information about grading, procedures, and policies)
Determine WHY you want to take dual enrollment classes - for college credit, or to just get knowledge in an area?
Decide what classes you are interested in and go to GaFutures.org to view the courses at our local colleges: https://www.gafutures.org/checs/dualenrollment/DECourseDirectory
Select the college that has the classes you are interested in. We recommend you enroll at a college you can easily drive to, because not all classes are available online (GSMST has no ability to know which ones are online).
Go to your chosen college's website and follow their directions for applying. The most common colleges for summer dual enrollment are Georgia State and Georgia Gwinnett, in addition to Gwinnett Tech.

Georgia Gwinnett College Dual Enrollment Information - deadline for Summer Semester is around April 1st
TRANSCRIPTS must be sent or delivered by students. These are sent through GaFutures if the student has an SSN on file with GSMST. Otherwise, the student must order a hard copy and get it to the college through mail or in person.
Go to FUNDING INFORMATION for instructions on completing the funding application.
Make an appointment with Mrs. Scheid to discuss next steps, and get ready for summer!
Dual Enrollment is offered to all students in the state of Georgia, with the tuition for participating colleges being FREE for the first 30 qualifying credit hours (about 8-10 classes). Details about the entire program can be found on the GaFutures website:
