Under the general direction of the Director develops, coordinates, manages and performs maintenance and enhancement of Emporia State University websites, portal, and other online collaborative environments. The position is responsible for building websites and content consistent with University marketing and digital strategies for a wide range of required objectives. Must have advanced knowledge of technical web applications to create both static and dynamic web pages. In-depth knowledge of campaign management tools and website analytics tools.
POSITION DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND COMPETENCIES
1. Website Development: Design, create and manage various websites. Build content and other required code and CMS-centric solutions as required. Troubleshoot and resolve performance-related problems with website and hosting solutions. The position will work with others to assess the needs of departments and other users to determine the best technology, implimentation strategy, timeline and other project goals. The position is responsible for both frontend and backend development, configuration and troubleshooting.
2. Research: Work with others to research, test, and present new web and digital technologies, techniques, services, etc.
3. Support: Manage and support content authors and other customers of the University web presence. Tasks may include phone/remote support, resolution of issues via a ticketing system and in-person training.
4. Web Standards and Analytics: Regularly test the usability of websites and ensure proper working order and quality performance. Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements and legal standards. The position is responsible for maintaining all analytics and presenting the information in required formats as needed to assess University and departmental goals of the websites and related services.
§ High school diploma, or equivalent, with 3+ years of experience as a web developer.
§ Associate degree in relevant field, with 2+ years of experience as a web developer.
§ Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, with 1+ years of experience as a web developer.
§ Advanced knowledge of technical web applications, including experience working in a content management system (CMS)
§ Knowledge and experience in project planning, implementation, and management;
§ Demonstrated commitment to customer- and team-oriented management;
§ Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations;
§ Strong communication skills to communicate with different people at different technical levels throughout the university
§ General understanding of WCAG 2.0 and other accessibility standards and regulations related to user experiences
§ Demonstranted knowledge working with Google Analytics, SEO and other web reporting services
§ Ability to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
§ Strong customer service orientation
§ Experience managing vendor-hosted online email and collaboration solutions (e.g. – G Suite for Education, Office 365)
§ Experience developing digital forms, including business process analysis for form “routing” (e.g. – Microsoft InfoPath, etc.)
§ Ability to integrate graphics and written communication in to websites and related platforms
§ Experience working with content management systems (e.g. – dotCMS)
§ General understanding of Internet technologies (IP, DNS, etc.) and web standards (CSS, HTML, web accessibility, etc.) and various web coding frameworks (.NET, Java, etc.)
§ Experience with Office 365, SharePoint and related apps and services.
§ Strong technical knowledge and demonstrated experience integrating web services with databases to produce dynamic applications
§ Full understanding of and demonstrated implementation of W3C web design specifications for optimized semantic markup
§ Strong knowledge of cross-browser and cross-platform issues and design constraints of the Web
§ Experience working with PowerBI and other services to present analytics in a readable and responsive format
§ General working knowledge of PPC management (ex. Google AdWords)
§ Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience working with 3rd party API’s and similar services to present information in a web application or online service
