Students staying in the dorms will move-in on early before the beginning of our 2025 band camp.
EARLY MOVE-IN FOR ESMH/GUARD/DANCE/CHEER - Saturday, August 9 - 10am to noon
Hello Marching Hornets,
We are just over three weeks from the start of the season, and it is looking to be incredible! In case you’ve missed prior info, or need to access it again, here is some news, and some updated information on the coming season!
1) BAND APP: This season, we are transitioning to using the band app, please check your email for the login information.
2) 2025 ESMH Information Page: This page has been updated throughout the summer and will continue to be as we get closer. This page will have band camp information and more! https://emporia.link/esmhinfo
3) CAMP SCHEDULE: The band camp schedule can be found on the ESMH Info page, as well as on this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sHgcBjlZgJSWRKchltDK6nm09t4nS6WE/view?usp=sharing
4) SHEET MUSIC: The Google link to the sheet music for the season has been emailed to your student emails, and or provided emails. If you log into Google Drive, look for shared items, you should find the link to the music.
5) SOUND FILES: The sound files for the 2025 season can be found here, the halftime show music currently is just the winds and front ensemble parts, battery parts are being written as we speak:
6) RECRUITMENT: If you have a friend on the fence about joining, reach out to them and encourage them to participate as this will be a HISTORIC year for the Marching Hornets! Auditions for drumline and front ensemble will take place during band camp. We are at 99 Instrumentalists and 70 Spirit Team members as of today.
7) NEW BLACK HOT WEATHER UNIFORM SHORTS: This season we are changing our hot weather uniform, and all ESMH Winds and Percussionists will need to purchase at least one pair of these shorts that complement your body shape the best. Please order at least 1 pair (more if you choose) and bring them with you to the band camp.

8) CREW LENGTH BLACK SOCK: This season, make sure you have black crew lenghth socks, solid black with no visible logos.

10) VOLLEYBAND AUDITIONS: The auditions for Volleyband (Volleyball Pep Band), will take place during the band camp, and the band is limited due to scholarship allocations to 35 members. The auditions will be utilizing music that we will perform this season.

Required Weekly Sectional Time - THURSDAY 6pm is the recommended time for ease of scheduling.

Band Camp Information
Members must wear appropriate clothing to all camp/rehearsals. Athletic shoes must have proper ankle and arch support with a thick sole and closed toe. No sandals, or dress shoes are allowed. Do not bring valuables to rehearsal, as unattended items are not secure. Shirts/pants/shorts should be of an athletic style. Avoid jeans, tight/stiff clothing, overly baggy clothing and excessive jewelry. If you show up to a rehearsal and are deemed not to be in appropriate athletic attire, you may be asked to leave to go change with penalty of your attendance for rehearsal.
Proper Rehearsal Dress and Preparation Includes:
WATER!!! And lots of it…

Hats
Sunglasses
Sunscreen and bug spray
Unrestrictive, loose athletic style clothing
Athletic or Tennis shoes. THIS IS REQUIRED AT ALL REHEARSALS (do not show up to rehearsals wearing jeans, toms, or flip - flops)

We will post the link to the ESU Marketplace where you will be able to pay your fees in advance once we solidify the prices given the potential increases in price.
The Marching Hornets can be very loud, I would recommend getting proper hearing protection before band camp. A "musicians' earplug" is one of the best options, as they allow members to hear voice, but will reduce the harmful frequencies that could damage hearing over long periods of sound exposure.
