I was born and raised in Lawrence, Kansas and moved to Emporia in August 2008 to attend Emporia State University. I've spent most of my time photographing digitally until taking a black & white darkroom course at ESU. I realized immediately how much I enjoy the traditional and slower processes of using an SLR 35mm film camera.
My final project during the spring 2009 semester was working in series to photograph abandoned buildings and "ghost" towns througout the Flint Hills region of Kansas. My travels took me to Bushong, Elmdale, Cedar Point, Clements, and Americus. I found some amazing old structures and enjoyable characters during the project and will continue to expand on these images. This project is without end as rural America continues to disappear.
