One-day Workshop on Astronomy in the TAO Era: Synergies with Facilities in Chile

Date and Time: April 29th, 2024 (Monday), 9:00-17:00

Venue: Campus San Joaquín, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Santiago

We are pleased to announce the inauguration ceremony of the University of Tokyo Atacama Observatory (TAO), which will take place in Santiago on April 30th, 2024. Prior to this event, on April 29th, we will conduct a one-day workshop to discuss the new horizons in astronomy opened up by TAO, as well as the synergies between current and future facilities in Chile. This workshop will encompass a variety of topics in astrophysics, including planets, stars, galaxies, and transients. We are also excited to share our latest findings from ALMA, JWST, and other observatories to discuss their synergies with TAO. Further, the workshop will feature discussions on technical advancements and instrumentation in both Chile and Japan.

While the range of topics might seem broad for a one-day workshop, it could serve as an excellent bridge from the last Chile-Japan forum in Los Lagos in 2022 to the next planned forum in Japan in mid-2025 (for which preparations have already begun).

Along with the invited talks, which will be announced shortly, we will accept contributed talks. Please make registration through the Google form below, by April 19 (Friday).
