To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the University of Tokyo, the Graduate School of Engineering of the University of Tokyo will hold a lecture meeting on the afternoon of 2024/03/08 to promote exchanges with the University of Glasgow in the UK.
On 2024/03/07, the day before the 150th anniversary, the Departments EEIS and ICE will also celebrate its 150th anniversary by inviting five engineering researchers from the UK and Professor Takuji Okamoto, who specialises in the history of science, from the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, University of Tokyo, to discuss the future direction of education and research and the future of academic exchange between the UK and Japan. We will be discussing the future of academic exchange between Japan and the UK.
We invite all current students, alumni and other interested parties to join us. We hope you will also join us for a reception to talk with the invited UK professors.

TITLE: Overview of Electronics and Nanoscale Engineering Research Division
NAME OF LECTURER: Professor Hadi Heidari - Head of Electronics and Nanoscale Engineering research division, James Watt School of Engineering
ABSTRACT: This talk will present an overview of the research activities and facilities of the Electronics and Nanoscale Engineering (ENE) research division within the James Watt School of Engineering (JWSE). It will discuss the three main research themes - Electronics, Photonics, and Quantum & Nano - and the work of individual groups within the division.

TITLE: The Henry Dyer Lecture -- reforging historic links between UofG and UTokyo
NAME OF LECTURER: Dr Adam McKenzie - Research Associate, James Watt School of Engineering
ABSTRACT: This talk will present the history and legacy of Henry Dyer, and the historic link between University of Glasgow and University of Tokyo. It will also discuss routes for establishing a sustained collaborative relationship between the two Institutions going forward.
