Richard Crew is one of the first researchers to study p-adic cohomology from both cohomological and differential equation-theoretic points of view. Especially, his work on the finiteness of rigid cohomology for overconvergent F-isocrystals over a curve set the direction for subsequent research in rigid cohomology theory. More than 30 years have passed since then, and the fundamental theories for p-adic cohomology over fields of positive characteristic have been well established. We can say that it is now an exciting moment to explore further applications of the theory. On the occasion of Richard's retirement from the University of Florida (not from Mathematics!), we would like to create an opportunity to discuss the future of p-adic cohomology theory.
