DIGITAL MEDIA

Students will analyze and assess current and emerging technologies while designing and creating multimedia projects that address customer needs and resolve a problem. Students use personal and interpersonal skills to prepare for a rapidly evolving workplace environment. The knowledge and skills acquired and practiced will enable students to successfully perform and interact in a technology-driven society. Students will enhance reading, writing, computing, communication, and critical thinking and apply them to the IT environment.

This class is 1 high school credit – Full Year


INTERPERSONAL STUDIES

This course examines how the relationships between individuals and among family members significantly affect the quality of life. Students use knowledge and skills in family studies and human development to enhance personal development, foster quality relationships, promote wellness of family members, manage multiple adult roles, and pursue careers related to counseling and mental health services. There is a high school semester exam at the end of the semester. This class pairs with Lifetime Nutrition and Wellness.

This class is a .5 high school credit – 1 Semester


LIFETIME NUTRITION & WELLNESS 

This course allows students to use principles of lifetime wellness and nutrition to help them make informed choices that promote wellness. They will focus on understanding wellness, nutrition, and the use of science and technology in food management. They will also investigate the field of food safety and sanitation practices. Students will learn about knife skills, dishwashing, handwashing, kitchen math, MyPlate, balanced diets, table manners, energy nutrients, nutrition and fitness throughout the lifecycle, vitamins, minerals, digestion, food allergies, the food groups, eating disorders, and eating disorders. Students will cook around 4 times the semester. These labs include breakfast, smoothies, spaghetti with meat sauce, and cakes. There is a quiz and a journal check at the end of each chapter. This course is a high school 1/2 credit class and lasts 1 semester. There is a high school semester exam at the end of the semester. This class pairs with Interpersonal Studies. ($10 class fee for supplies).

PRINCIPLES OF BUSINESS, FINANCE, AND MARKETING 

In this course, students gain knowledge and skills in business in the “real world”.  You will learn how to create and manage your own business (entrepreneurship), learn about the US and global economies, and marketing & advertising. Learn about finances:  financial basics, credit & debt, saving & investing, insurance, and setting financial goals. There is a high school semester exam at the end of both semesters.

PRINCIPLES OF CONSTRUCTION

Principles of Construction provides a solid foundation for students entering into the construction and craft skilled areas. The students will learn construction safety, construction math, and hand-powered tools and explore career paths in construction.

This class is 1 high school credit – Full Year


PRINCIPLES OF HUMAN SERVICES

This course will enable students to investigate careers in the human services career cluster, including counseling and mental health, early childhood development, family and community, fashion design, interior design, and personal care services. Students will spend time learning about communication skills, 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, advertisements, consumerism, mental illnesses, stress management, childhood development, taking care of an infant, color theory, elements and principles of design, embroidery, knitting, and decorating. There is a quiz and a journal check at the end of each chapter. There is a high school semester exam at the end of both semesters. ($10 class fee for supplies).

PRINCIPLES OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

This course teaches computer knowledge and skills to be successful in the “real world”. Students will learn about hardware, networks, operating systems, software, Internet skills, web design, coding, and exploration of IT careers. Students will be able to test for FREE for the IC3 certification. The IC3 certification (Internet Core Competency Certification) is a global benchmark for basic computer literacy, including operating systems, hardware, software, and networks. There is a high school semester exam at the end of both semesters.

This class is 1 high school credit – Full Year
