Newton Rayzor Music
Class overview
Welcome to the NRE Music Room! In our music room: we will move with singing games and dancing, listen and develop aural skills, make music by singing or playing on instruments and work on music literacy by learning to be music readers. My goal, as a music teacher, is to convince your child to love music so much, that they want to continue their creative path as they move on and into middle school.
About me
Hi! I'm Cheree' Barnette and I'm the music specialist at Newton Rayzor Elementary.
As a kid, I was always singing, moving, dancing and generally making noise. This is a funny reflection for me because, as an adult, I'm still doing the same thing!
I was always good at music, and I had several excellent music teachers who inspired and pushed me to do my best along the way. I always knew I wanted to teach, but in 12th grade, I thought, "Why don't I teach music?" I went to college, fell in love with my music major classes, and that was that. I was going to be a music teacher, and I couldn't wait to share my love and enthusiasm for music with my future students.
I feel very lucky to work at Newton Rayzor, as it is such a very unique and special school. I am proud to be part of this IB community!
