- ecosystem - the interaction of living and nonliving things in an environment.
- biome - a geographic area on Earth that contains ecosystems with similar biotic and abiotic features
- habitat - the natural home or environment of an animal, plant, or other organism.
- microhabitat - a smaller or more specialized habitat
- population - A group of organisms of one species that interbreed and live in the same place at the same time
- biodiversity - the number of different species in an area
- climax community - a stable community that no longer goes through major ecological changes
- sustainable - able to be maintained at a certain rate or level
- species - a group of organisms that have similar traits and are able to produce fertile offspring
- community - all of the biotic parts of en ecosystem
