Welcome to

Harpool Middle School

longhorn Choir

Mission Statement

The Harpool Choral Department has established a celebrated tradition of musical excellence based on high musical standards. As we continue on this path, the Choral Department will provide opportunities for each student to develop artistic expression, individual responsibility, personal integrity, and a sense of community through the teaching of lifelong music skills. Students will have the opportunity to improve individual vocal technique, music theory, and music literacy skills. Choir students will also learn challenging choral literature in a variety of musical styles.

A Note from your Director

I am very excited to begin my second year at Harpool Middle School! I anticipate a fun year full of music making and I look forward to working with you as we make our choir program the best it can be!!

Please take a moment to read through The HMS Choir Handbook and add the Calendar Dates to your family's agenda! The Handbook was designed to introduce you to the Harpool Choir tradition of excellence and provide you with essential information regarding grading policies, eligibility, supply fees, fundraising, field trips, and choir dates. Further notification will be communicated should any additions or changes occur as the year advances.

In addition to supporting your child from the audience at our choir performances, parents are invited to volunteer to help set up for concerts, chaperone choir field trips, assist with fundraising, and much more. Details regarding opportunities to help will be sent home at a later date. If you feel you might be interested in supporting our program in any of these ways, please complete the criminal background check form found on the DISD webpage at http://www.dentonisd.org/Page/48779 . This is required for all parent volunteers and can sometimes take a few weeks to process.

Thank you in advance for your support of our program. I am so excited to have the opportunity to work with your students. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any of your questions or concerns throughout the year!!

Sincerely,

Rebecca Kraft
