Important Dates
Please submit the following form by 3:35 PM on March 22nd:
*All 7th grade candidates who attend clinic on Monday, April 1st and Tuesday, April 2nd, AND complete all previous steps on time will make the 7th grade squad.*
*8th grade squad WILL make cuts, pending tryout scores and where the natural break falls. The last two days of tryout clinic week will be 8th grade only tryout days.*
ALL LEVEL Mandatory Tryout Clinic: April 2nd- April 3rd 3:45 PM - 5 PM
*OPTIONAL* Mock Tryout 8TH GRADE ONLY: April 3rd 5 PM - 6 PM
Mandatory 8th Grade Tryout: April 4th @ 3:45 PM - Finished
*Mandatory tryout details will be sent via email by March 25th to all candidates who fill out the interest form by the deadline.*
Eligibility Requirements
Please review the DISD Eligibility Requirements below prior to submitting a tryout packet!
The cheer squads will be open to all current 6th and current 7th grade students, at the time of tryouts, who wish to tryout.
All candidates must be students of DENTON ISD at the time of tryouts; OR, show proof of residency/future residency in our zone for the next school year.
A candidate must not have been academically ineligible for any two or more grading periods during the current school year.
A candidate must not have been absent (without making up those hours) for more than 10% of the school days in the school year.
A candidate/cheerleader with current injuries must provide a doctor’s release in order to tryout/practice/perform.
Candidates are expected to attend the tryout workshop(s) in order to learn the tryout material. Attendance is mandatory! Failure to participate in the workshops could hamper the candidate’s ability to learn the material used for judging at the tryouts, and therefore, could impact their ability to be selected to a squad.
