Interested in creating in Canva, but still wanting to utilize Google Slides? These instructions discuss that process!

Do students have canva accounts?

For now, students will continue using Canva with standard (non-Pro) access. This is due to the way we currently roster student accounts through the SSO. We’re actively working on expanding access to them!

Teachers have premium accounts through the SSO and your Microsoft email. We are working with Canva to get students access to premium features as well. Because students do not technically have accounts, you cannot assign them work in Canva.

For now, you can still share designs with them via the share link or if you want them to have their own copy, you can share a template link with them. Students sign into Canva with their Google Accounts.

Accessing your Content in A Merged Account

As of May 26, 2026, Denton ISD Canva accounts must be accessed using your Microsoft (@dentonisd.org) account via the Denton ISD Single Sign-On (SSO).

What does this mean for you? If you have any other district accounts, such as g.dentonisd.org, they'll be locked. You can still copy content from these accounts by heading to "Copy your content" found under "Your profile" in Settings.

How to Copy Your Content

Navigate to your profile icon.
In the pop out, select "settings"
In your content, select "copy content".

From there, enter the email address associated with the account you are wanting to copy from. That email address will be sent a verification code.

Check your inbox for a verification code, and enter it into Canva and your content will begin copying over.

Note: Depending upon the amount of content you have, it can take time for it all to be copied over. You do not have to remain signed in for it to continue to copy. I will work in the background until all content has been copied.
