I grew up in Denton and attended Denton High School - class of 1997! I played Varsity basketball throughout high school and played basketball for one year at a Hill College. My dad (Coach Lowry) taught in the district for many years as well as my aunt (Ms. Lowe); now, my sister (Ms. Newby) and I both teach in Denton ISD.
I coached volleyball and basketball for the first ten years of my teaching career, but have decided to focus on my classroom instruction and being able to enjoy watching my students participate in a variety of extracurricular activities.
I started my teaching career at DHS and then taught in McKinney for ten years. I am very excited to be back at Denton High School. 💜 💛 I am starting my 18th year of teaching!
I have a B.S. in Economics from the University of North Texas and an M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Western Governors' University.
I love to travel both within the US and abroad. I love learning about and experiencing different cultures.
Some of my most favorite trips were to Peru, Italy, Alaska and Hawaii!
