What Is Academic UIL for Middle School?
In Texas, the University Interscholastic League (UIL) organizes a special branch of academic competition specifically for younger students, called “A+ Academics.” This program is aimed at elementary and middle school grades (typically grades 2–8)
A+ Academics includes a diverse array of events—estimate about 20 different contests—designed to expand on classroom learning and cultivate skills like critical thinking and subject-area mastery
Around 3,000 Texas schools participate in the program, hosting over 300–350 district-level meets each year
