About the Architect -
Emperor Shomu was the 45th Emperor of Japan, living from the years 724 - 749, he was the Architect of the Todai-Ji. Emperor Shomu had a mixture complex, having a mix of a spiritual and pragmatic mind. In his might to unite all the Japanese clans under one rule, being the Emperor he promoted the acts of Spiritual Unity.
