My name is Meghan Barkley. I currently serve as the 4-H Youth Development Agent for Clemson Cooperative Extension in Beaufort, South Carolina. In my role, I facilitate positive youth development programs utilizing the experiential learning model. My favorite programs are leadership, gardening, STEAM, and livestock projects.
I attended West Virginia University and graduated with a degree in Design Studies. I use a lot of design thinking when planning events for my youth programs. I am a 4-H alum, so although I applied to my current role on a bit of a whim, it has truly become a bit of a full circle moment. I wanted to expand my knowledge and better serve the youth I work with, which led me to studying at Clemson.
My ePortfolio is a collection of artifacts created during my time as a youth development leadership student at Clemson University. I chose a garden theme because I believe the garden has a myriad of benefits for youth. Check out my professional philosophy, to learn more about this.
About Me
Hey y'all! Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to learn more about me. I'm originally from a small central town in Pennsylvania. I grew up on the family farm where my childhood showed me first hand the value of agriculture. We spent a lot of time in the barn, riding around checking pastures, and exploring the outdoors. I have since moved to the wonderful Lowcountry of South Carolina, but still love visiting home whenever I can. In my spare time, I enjoy going to the beach, reading, water color painting, and traveling.
