Matias Volonte is an Assistant Professor in the School of Computing and a faculty member in the Biomedical Data Science and Informatics (BDSI) program at Clemson University. He directs the Synthetic Personas Lab, which explores human interaction with embodied conversational agents across extended reality (XR) platforms, including immersive and non-immersive environments. His research focuses on applications in education and digital health interventions.
His work has been published in venues such as IEEE Virtual Reality (VR), Intelligent Virtual Agents (IVA), the ACM Symposium on Applied Perception, and IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics (TVCG).
