Chuo University SSL-VPN Database Search

What is Chuo University SSL-VPN Service?

This service uses VPN(Virtual Private Network) technology to make it look as if you are accessing the Internet from inside Chuo University, even when you are connected to the Internet from outside of the university, such as home or abroad. This makes it possible to search the databases that are only available on the university network.

※Caution

Some of the databases provided by the Chuo University Library are not available with Chuo University SSL-VPN connections.

How to use the SSL-VPN connection service

Installation of dedicated VPN connection software (Cisco AnyConnect) is required.

  1. The integrated authentication account is distributed in the guidance for new students.

　For undergraduate and graduate students, the ID and password are the same as those of C plus.

  1. The dedicated VPN connection software is automatically installed when you access to the URL of Chuo University SSL-VPN connection service (https://ssl-vpn.c.chuo-u.ac.jp/） on your PC connected to the Internet, enter your ID and password for the integrated authentication, and log in.

  1. Once you are connected to the VPN, use the database of your choice, labeled VPN, from the database list.


The second and subsequent connections do not require software installation.

Connect to the VPN from the AnyConnect icon in the task tray and use it from the database list.

Faculty, staff, graduate students (Include professional graduate students), and undergraduate students.


Precautions and Compliance for Using Chuo University SSL-VPN Service

  • Please use it for the purpose of research and education activities and its support.

  • Use of personal information for the purpose of disclosure, slander or mischief is prohibited.

  • It is prohibited to use for the purpose of attacking various systems.

  • It prohibits the theft, eavesdropping, or falsification of information recorded in the communication or the server (Web, etc.).

  • Spamming is strictly prohibited.

  • Transmission of computer viruses is prohibited.

  • Make sure that the computers that make the VPN connection are protected against viruses.
