Position Description 

The Food Works Winter Market is seeking an individual to assist with the weekly winter farmers market. This person will primarily work at the market information table, answering customer questions, processing electronic transactions and providing oversight and assistance to vendors and customers throughout the market. Additional responsibilities, such as posting fliers, may be assigned as needed. Qualified candidates must be available Saturday mornings from December 7, 2024 through March 30, 2025 , from 8:00am-1:00pm. Applications will be reviewed as they are received until the position is filled.

This program was rebranded in 2024 (formally the Carbondale Community Farmers Market).

Duties 

• Staffing the market information table from 9:00am-12:00pm, in conjunction with the market manager. 

• Answering general inquiries from customers with a patient and welcoming attitude. 

• Processing electronic transactions, including SNAP/LINK transactions and Link Match coupons.

• Maintaining precise records of all transactions using provided forms. 

• Tracking customer count. 

• Packing up the market information table and assisting with market tear down and clean up from 12:00-1:00 pm.

• Fulfilling additional market duties as assigned. 

Requirements 

• Interest in farmers markets, local & sustainable food, and providing good food access to all. 

• Must be responsible, reliable and available Saturdays 8am -1pm from December 2024 through March 2025.

• Attention to detail, including the ability to maintain precise records of all transactions. 

• Strong communication skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. 

• Reliable transportation. 

• Ability to lift 40 lbs. 

Compensation

This person will primarily work at the Kids Club activity table, answering customer questions, providing Kids Club activity material and providing oversight and assistance to kids and their families with Kids Club throughout the market. Qualified candidates must be available Saturday mornings from December 7, 2024 through March 30, 2025, from 8:00am-1:00pm. Applications will be reviewed as they are received until the position is filled.

• Assist with markets set up, starting at 8am and market tear down after market, until 2pm

• Staffing the Kids Club table from 9:00am-12:00pm, in conjunction with the market manager 

• Answering general inquiries from customers with a patient and welcoming attitude 

• Signing families up for the Kids Club program using provided form- parent signature required 

• Tracking customer count 

• Guiding parents and children through Kids Club activities 

• Fulfilling additional market duties as assigned 

• Keeping Kids Club area tidy and stocked with needed supplies 

• Take pictures of activities for facebook and promotional purposes  

• Working with outside organizations that are on site taking part in Kids Club activities
