Farmington Woods Elementary School PTA
When: May 17th, 7PM
For some families, talking to our kids about race in America is a necessity. For others, it's a difficult conversation we might not know how to start. Join us Monday, May 17th to learn strategies for navigating these conversations at home. Wake County's Director of Equity Affairs, Dr. María Rosa Rangel, will lead an interactive workshop for FWES parents on talking about race and racism with children of all ages. Dr. Rangel's talk will start at approx. 7pm on May 17th, promptly after the PTA Board meeting. Because of the challenging and open discussion she has planned, this workshop may not be appropriate for young children to hear. The workshop will be offered in Spanish and English at the same time.

The FWES PTA has partnered with Lew Wilson Arts in Apex for an ongoing fundraiser. They have painted the school and will print it on wooden ornaments that can be personalized. They also have two different sized prints that come already matted and shipping is free!
This is a great option for teacher appreciation or 5th grade families leaving FWES.
For all FWES related sales, our school and PTA will get 20% back.

Join the PTA
Our voices are stronger together! Farmington Woods relies on our strong family community to volunteer time and to provide funding for programs, classroom supplies and technology. By joining forces with other NC PTO/PTAs and the national PTA organization, we amplify our ability to raise awareness for issues like teacher pay, classroom mandates, and other laws that impact our students.
PTA Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are needed for the following areas this school year:
Spirit Wear: Place orders for FWES spirit wear and sell items at various events and through online ordering. Time Commitment: Length of specific event.
Grant Writer: Research, write and submit grants to support FWES projects like playground improvements and water bottle stations. Commitment: A few hours a month.
Cultural Arts Chair: Work with FWES to bring unique artists to share their talents and cultures with our students. Help secure contracts and support the artists on the day of the performance. Commitment: Must attend a Cultural Arts Fair in August and attend the scheduled events during the school year.
We also need people with great big ideas and huge hearts! Our PTA is 100% volunteer run and everything we raise goes back to the Farmington Woods community. If you have an idea for a program, fundraiser, or service that reaches out to our students, staff or teachers, please contact us!
