South Side Girls Soccer played an intense game against Concordia High School last week and came away victorious against a good team known as one of the best soccer teams. The team won while dealing with a lot of injuries on the team.

The team has been practicing real hard to prepare for their games. Practicing everyday from 2:30 to 5 and depending on if they need more time then until 8. They practice either on the field unless the football team is practicing then they mostly go to the Anex.

“I personally prefer to practice at the Anex. It's better because we usually do spend most of our time there and I do feel like the more time we spend practicing the better the team gets,” Diana Martinez (9) said.

There are many freshmen on the team who are afraid to play, especially being on varsity and playing at a school that is known to be pretty good.

“I do know that a couple of the freshmen were really scared to play, especially because it's varsity and it's an intense game,” Abril Garcia (10) said.

Not only that but everything began to go downhill, many of the players on the team started to have injuries or became sick so that meant that there were going to barely have anyone on the team to play.

“ I wasn't even able to play because I was sick and so many girls had injuries so that made it even more difficult and made more people nervous because we thought we wouldn't have enough players,” Daniela Romero (10) said.

That didn’t stop them though as they won 3-1.

“I was excited for them especially since I knew that there weren't enough girls to play but I do believe that practicing did help us a lot and it was very nice for us to beat Concordia as well,” Romero said.
