The South Side boys’ volleyball team made history on April 21, 2023. This was the first ever boys’ volleyball team Senior Night, which took place on the intense match against Northrop.

The Archers fought their hardest, and volleyball manager Ehler Hta (11) reveals that the team has a bright future ahead of them. “Having a boys’ volleyball team here at South gives our male student athletes more opportunities sports-wise. I think it’s nice to see more boys getting involved in after-school activities. This also strengthens their school spirit, being a part of a team together,” said Hta. For her, this newfound sense of Archer pride is what she is looking forward to the most this season.

Senior Night was full of hope, spikes, and a dash of bittersweetness. For many of the players on the team, it is their first and last year. “I was excited but at the same time sad because I have to leave next year,” senior Dy Moo (12) states.

Likewise, the players are excited for what next season has in stock for them. “Have fun, enjoy the game, build relationships, and fix them the best way you can,” Camarion Cabell (12) says. He believes this is crucial advice for future players on the team.

Despite these obstacles, the Archers managed to display their South Side pride during the match against Northrop. The Archers played their best on Senior Night and the results were evident. The game was a close one with a score of 2-3. GO ARCHERS!!!!
